SOAR

Troopmaster is coming out with a new release of their software in the next 60 days called Troopmaster Web 2.0 and Packmaster Web 2.0.

This release has a number of significant technology changes in it. There is one in particular that will affect Troopmaster/Packmaster users and their SOAR website. They are changing their method for assigning unique IDs within their software – what we call TMIDs – that are used for syncing with your SOAR website during the Import process. They are changing to a truly unique TMGUID which in the long run will help significantly reduce duplicate accounts showing up in your SOAR website.

This is not like recent Troopmaster updates where you just apply the patch and keep on going. This update will require you to “convert” your Troopmaster/Packmaster software to the new version. Once you “convert” you can’t go backwards. So plan accordingly on the timing of when you do this !

On the SOAR side we have completed Import support for the new 2016+ format from Troopmaster.

The first time you use a new Web 2.0 Import format you will need to complete use the Convert function on your SOAR website. This will be available at Admin/Import/Troopmaster/Packmaster 2008+ on your SOAR website.

The Convert function will try to automatically match the members in your new Web 2.0 Import file with those currently in your SOAR website roster. For those that we can’t match automatically, a mapping feature will then be shown so you can manually pick “who matches who” between the two. Based on the mapping we will then update TMID to TMGUID in your website Roster. You can then use the Web 2.0 Import file like normal moving forward.

A few notes

• We will continue to support both the current/older Import file format and the new Web 2.0 Import file format moving forward.
• You don’t need to upgrade to Troopmaster/Packmaster Web 2.0 to continue to use the SOAR Import feature.
• The Convert feature is a one-time process you will to need to complete when you first upgrade to Troopmaster/Packmaster Web 2.0.
• Everything else will work just like it has.
• Your SOAR website will prompt you to Convert if you have older Troopmaster/Packmaster data in your website and try to use a new 2016+ Import file.
• If you’ve never used older versions of Troopmaster/Packmaster and start with the Web 2.0version, you don’t need to do anything. Just Import like normal.

When Troopmaster releases their Web 2.0 version, you will see the Convert button become available at Admin/Import.

Given the size of this Troopmaster upgrade, we are looking to work with a few customers that are going to switch to Web 2.0 as soon as it is available. We have used testing data provided to us by Troopmaster. At the same time, we would like to work with early adopters during their first Import to confirm all is working as expected.
